On Saturday, June 28, I will offer a new 2.5-hour class “Roasting for baristas” in Geneva.

You don’t have to be a barista to attend, this class is for anyone interested in roasting!

Class will feature a cupping that includes samples with roast defects or green defects, and some straight-up delicious coffees as well.

We will cover many topics, including:

  • Types of roasting machines

  • The pros and cons of drum- and air-roatsers

  • How to roast consistently

  • QC tools for roasting

  • How do baked, underdeveloped, and roasts with too much conduction taste?

  • What are the important factors to consider when purchasing a roasting machine

  • How to cup coffee

  • How to roast for filter vs straight espresso vs milk drinks

  • What are the primary green processing methods?
